SHAPOTOU I （沙坡头一）

Shapotou, situated in Zhongwei County, lies on the north bank of the Yellow River some 150 km (93 miles) south of Yinchuan City.  The place is regarded as one of the five most beautiful deserts in China, and is widely recognized as the Capital of Sand.

We were transported by bus to enter the desert in which the journey took 15 minutes.  The scenary along the bank of the Yellow River was lovely.

Fruit trees are planted along the way with some trees hanging heavy with pears and red dates
