DANXIAN GEOPARK III(丹霞公园)

The red rocky outcrops resemble weird and wonderful shapes like castles, cones, towers, as well as humans, creatures, birds and beasts.

Danxia is mainly composed of red gravel, sandstone and mudstone and is a singular outcrop with cross layers, steep walls, vertical joints, and gorgeous colors.  They are well defined with circuitous lines and, if it rains the day before, this color will be more gorgeous.

DANXIAN GEOPARK II (丹霞公园)

The best time to come is in the afternoon where the sun is at the strongest where you can see the contrasting colors.  The colors of the mountains change with the light of the day and the weather conditions.

This one very tall viewing platform with wonderful views from the top

Each spot offers unique views and we went nuts photographing non-stop. It takes at least 2-hour to complete the whole place and to view at your leisure

DANXIA GEOPARK(丹霞公园)

We visited the 'Grand Canyon" of China.  The area known as Zhangye Danxia, the greatest gathering of different pigments in natural stone in the world.  Danxia is a type of landscape found in China, characterized by prominent boulders and steep cliffs.

The view of rocks is captivating even before entering the park

Danxia Geopark was a salt lake billions of years ago.  Due to the changes in the climate and oxidizing-reduction conditions of the river basins, the iron ions in the sedimentary deposits were oxidized to ferric oxides.  This caused the sedimentary rocks which formed afterwards to become red, yellow, green, grey, white etc.  As the result of crustal uplift and tectonic movement, the red rocks become sloped, then twisted and ultimately transformed into tilted hills.

There are buses running through the park to get from one point to another
