FURAMA HOTEL

The buffet was eaten on the welfare fund of the company  It was on a high side given the food, ambience and size of the place.  The tables were placed quite close to each other and was stuffy when the crowd increased into the night.  There were not much variety for the food served but it did not matter as appetizer and desserts were my main concern.

A good start!  Mee-siam was the winner served with a balance of sweet and sour gravy

I helped myself to most of the desserts

Fresh fruits to freshen up

DULCET & STUDIO

Dulcet & Studio is part of Tampopo Deli and they are well-known for their pillowy cakes.  After a day of shopping it is a good place to indulge in their cakes and pastries.  Besides the sweet treats they also serve meals.

AQUAMARINE

We went for  a premium hotel buffet under the staff welfare fund in February.  It was held in Aqua Marine of the Marina Mandarin, Level 4.  The food were OK but not as good when compare to Marriott and Traders hotels.   The price was on a high-side at $58 per pax, but with UOB credit card 1 for 1 gave a better value.

CONVENIENCE

Living in East Coast is pleasant as long as food is concerned.  Many places offer 24-hr service which is a pleasure for gluttons like us.  Airport terminals are convenient places for supper with cafe and restaurants operating 24-hr service.  Surprise that Swensen is packed with families when we went for supper one night.

Asian curry set - good appetizer of salted eggs, veg pickles and salsa sauce but pittance

Chicken curry with rice - spicy and oily

Chicken mushroom pasta - insufficient mushroom

Rich and spicy chilli crab spicy, steam crab preference to fried for freshness and succulence

Gigantic chop but a bit tough and chewy.

No ending to meal without dessert - Fruity sundae

Durian sundae with "atap chi" - my DH favorite

SWENSEN2

To use up all the vouchers we proceeded to Swensen, this round at Terminal 2, at one of the weekends.  The place was crowded and quite a long queue but was ushered in after 20-min wait.

First thing on the table, after placing our order, was sliced crispy baguettes accompanied with butter.

BBQ burger with potatoe crisps, accompanying with mayonnaise.  The sliced pork was tender and juicy, full of smoky flavor.

Lasagna in spinach sauce with creamy mozzarella cheese topped with thin crispy potatoe strips.   Taste licking good and not chessy.

Health conscious DH chose panfried salmon with vegetables - Baby tomatoes and broccoli with mashed potatoes.  Vision does not justify taste.

Stewed mussels in tomatoes sauce.  The sauce was thick and full of tomatoes.   Finger-licking good and last drop was soaked up clean with baguettes.

Soft shell crab with pasta.   The sauce was not too thick and creamy but just enough to coat the pasta.  The crab was crispy with a slight tinge of salt.

Colt Tower - Chocolate ice-cream with bananas and whip cream

Caramel apple pie with ice-cream served hot in cast-iron pan

The pie was very sweet but the taste was balanced up with ice-cream and apples.
